The focus of Women in Construction (WIC) Week is to highlight women as a visible component of the construction industry. WIC Week also provides an occasion for the industry to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry.
The following spotlights showcase just a few of the women who go above and beyond in our organization. Thank you again to all the wonderful women in our organization that help make our program a success!
Laura Keyser

Laura works for HH Architecture and has been a mentor with both the ACE Raleigh/Durham and ACE Baltimore Chapters. Her focus is on architecture, while also talking with the students about the technology used today in the AEC industry.
“Not only does the ACE program give students insight into the career paths involved in the AEC industry, but also how all these disciplines collaborate on projects every day.”
Valerie (Zefiretto) Bono

Valerie works for Lend Lease and was our Golf Tournament Co-Chair last year.
“ACE Mentoring is a great organization that helps students learn and develop skills needed in the Architectural Construction and Engineering Industry. Serving as the Co-Chair of the Triangle tournament these past two years has been rewarding knowing that we are helping raise scholarships for students who will directly impact the future of this industry.”
Erin Thompson

Erin serves as a Mentor for our program.
“Helping High School students learn about these fields and learn if it is something that they have an aptitude for is important to me, especially if I can show that construction is an interesting and fulfilling career.”
Nikki Ricketson

Nikki works for PEG Contracting Inc. and is a current member of the Golf Tournament Planning Committee as well as past Co-Chair.
“It is exciting to see our local A/E/C firms come together to financially support the ACE Mentor Program, investing in the future of our industry.”
Winter Kilgore

Winter works for Turner Construction Company and has served as the ACE Golf Tournament Co-Chair for the past two years. Our 5-year anniversary tournament was the biggest success we have had with scholarship procurement and she looks forward to making the next one an even greater success!
“I’m truly delighted to see everyone come together from the AEC community to raise funds for such a worthwhile mission.”
Cargina Taylor

Cargina is the Executive Assistant for Gilbane Building Company. She coordinated the very first ACE Charity Golf Tournament for the ACE Mentor Program of Raleigh / Durham. The Charity Golf tournament began in 2012 and is a major charity fundraiser for the organization.
“It is a pleasure to be a part of the process of helping young people achieve their goals of joining the A/E/C industry.”
Rachel Fleming

Rachel works for Gilbane Building Company and serves as a Mentor in addition to coordinating the marketing efforts for our program.
“I have really enjoyed being involved with ACE over the past few years and seeing the wonderful projects the students create during their time in our program.”
